Democracy tests its proponents in Egypt

What they don't teach you about International politics is something like this:

Around and or while the Tunisians were revolting the US administration warned of more movements on the democracy front in the arab region and for the Arab leaders to take action such as easing up on liberties and making necessities easier to attain.

Egypt starts demonstrations and the US is baffled as to what to do.  Here's President Mubarak, a virtual ally and friend to the US, in trouble internally and the US does not know which way to go with this because if the US sides with the people and demonstrations quiet down and things go back to the control of Mubarak then it would be difficult to save face with the Mubarak regime.  If, on the other hand the US backed Mubarak and the Egyptians unwavered on their demands then the US would be in a lose-lose situation.  The pressure from the Israelis on the US and others to back Mubarak played a role as well because their investment in Mubarak was about to vanish.  They, the Israelis, did not want to see Mubarak leave but the Israelis are forgetting that the man would eventually return to dust like we all do and then what; one of his sons would carry the legacy?  And when they say "Israel, the only democracy.."; well now they would say: Israel, the only democracy that stood against democracy.  Sure Israel is concerned about its peace treaty with Egypt, but the peace treaty is with Egypt and not with Mr. Mubarak.  Maybe they need to be reminded of that. In Egypt,  as in Israel, there are always opposing political views.

Preaching democracy on one hand and then standing against it for self gain, to preserve Israeli and American interests as they're so called is hypocricy.

Schools would never tell you nor teach you, specially schools that are footed in democracies, that democracy's evil twin is hypocricy!

One thing the Arab leaders should learn is that the US puts its interests above everything else and through the powerful Israeli lobby the US would cheat itself in believing what the Israeli lobby tells it and dictates to it what its best interests are.  Senator John McCain, a well known Israeli lobby hand, already started a smear campaign.  The first was on Fox News.  He called the democracy movements of the region a "virus" that must be countered.  How the US can do all that and say Democracy with a straight face is astounding.
